Lessons

Age: Grade 5+ to Adults

I offer a ‘Nashville’ approach to teaching music. It is rooted in musical theory, but is not chained to the rigid-discipline of a more classical approach.

Music is like a language, and I aim to give you a vocabulary that allows you to comprehend, and play what you hear and feel. Whether you are playing with a band or by yourself, you will have the theory and musical language to keep up and follow along, or play any song that comes to mind; without needing to look at sheet music, a chord chart, or a YouTube video.

My approach opens the door for people to learn all styles of music. Pop, country, folk, traditional, religious, jazz (etc): I give you the building blocks to learn your favourite styles of music. It allows you to hear music, feel it, and understand what is being played.

 Details & FAQs

  • I’m glad you, or your child, have decided to embark on their musical journey!

There are some policies I have in place to provide the best possible service for you!

    1. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

    2. Your child must personally be interested in taking lessons for themselves.

    3. Focus will be given to your child’s musical tastes.

    4. No missed lessons will result in a refund; however, they can be rescheduled within the remainder of the season (limit of 2 lessons).

    5. Late arrival will result in loss of lesson time at the discretion of the instructor.

    6. Have fun!

  • My lessons will initially revolve around the piano for foundational development. If students wish to also learn acoustic guitar then that can also be incorporated once a student understands the basics.

  • You certainly can! The first lesson is $40, and allows you to test it out before committing to a whole season. We will use this time to assess what your goals are with lessons, what your current musical ability is, and come up with a plan for your musical training.

  • My lessons run from September-December (Fall), and January-April (Winter). Each season is $640 (15 weeks).

*This includes the lessons, the cost of materials, and a recital at the end of the season.

  • Absolutely!

Have somebody in your life that is interested in learning music? You can sponsor the cost of their lessons and surprise them with their golden ticket to all-expense-paid lessons!

  • My lessons are primarily conducted at my home in Deer Lake; however, I will also have accommodations made for lessons in Corner Brook each season!
